Put simply, Contrast Therapy is the use of heat to reduce inflammation followed by the use of ice to stimulate blood flow, repeated in a cycle.
This cycle acts as a sort of pump to transport nutrients to injured areas and maximize the healing potential of both hot and cold applications. Promoting healing and blood flow to injured joints is critical to speeding up recovery, particularly when injured joints often need rest and cannot be or should not be moved excessively.
