Chiropractic Adjustment

Joint issues, even minor joint issues, can have very large effects on your overall posture and pain level. When joint fixation is a component of your pathology, you will be prescribed adjustments appropriate to your specific situation and body.

Our doctor is highly trained in a range of proven adjustment methods, so you know you’ll be in good hands. Not only will you receive cutting edge professional care, but our team will always do their best to ensure effective treatments are delivered comfortably and conveniently.  Occasionally there is some muscular soreness following adjustments but it is usually very mild and easily resolved with application of ice for 20 minutes.

Our Chiropractic Technologies and Techniques

The Activator Method

Our patients call this “the clicker gun.”  The Activator is an instrument used to gently tap spinal segments or extremities that are fixated and causing dysfunction to some degree.  Activators are well researched as a safe modality that is low impact and can be used on patients of all ages. When used appropriately by a professional, it is even safe for patients with spinal surgery and osteoporosis.

Diversified Methodology

This is the chiropractic umbrella phrase that captures all of the techniques and adjustment strategies related to biomechanics that don’t have specific nomenclature. It also includes adjustment techniques that are considered an efficient default method that is safe for spinal manipulation, most commonly the neck and upper back. Often diversified methodology will be used in conjunction with other techniques.

Gonstead Adjustments

This is a style of adjustment that many of our patients rave about when it comes to long-term pain relief. Dr. Clarence Gonstead, DC pioneered this adjustment style back in 1929. The technique is based heavily on the biomechanics of the spinal discs and is considered a very safe and effective treatment to relieve nerve pressure and improve posture.

Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT)

This technique was originally devised and practiced by Major Bertrand DeJarnette, who was a chiropractor and osteopath. SOT is a method of treatments that are typically very low force with the goal of balancing the foundation of the spine (the sacrum) and the top of the spine (the occiput). The huge impact that improved alignment and posture will have on how you feel day to day cannot be overstated. Don’t live with pain and posture problems a single day longer than you have to.

Arthrostim

Our patients call this “The Woodpecker” because of its quick back and forth movement. The athostim is a medical tool our doctor uses to make effective adjustments with less overall force and impact.

Specifically, this instrument uses gentle repetitive force applied to spinal segments or extremities to stimulate mechanoreceptors and improve joint mobility and function. This targeted approach works extremely well alongside manual adjustments.

Extremity Adjustment

Though much chiropractic attention is paid to the spine, a critical component to pain reduction and posture correction is extremity adjustment. Since alignment, posture, and mobility issues in one area can affect the rest of your body, it’s important not to ignore any problems with your limbs.

Often adjustments are done manually, by hand, but instruments may be used as well. The most common instruments include: an activator, arthrostim, a speeder board, or a toggle piece.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care can be absolutely safe and effective for people of all ages, including young children. Pediatric Chiropractic Care is a special form of diversified adjustment techniques which uses much smaller forces and contact points (usually the pinky fingers) to adjust new born babies up to children 3-4 years of age.

Typically, less than 1 ounce of pressure is applied in this adjustment technique. With the help of our highly trained and attentive doctor, the benefits of chiropractic care are available to all age groups.

The Webster Technique

This technique is actually a diversified technique that employs a specific set of sacral tests to evaluate pelvic ligaments. This technique is employed when helping breach position realignment to improve comfort during pregnancy and eventually safer birth.

This is NOT attempting to turn the baby. Instead we restore the mother’s spine, pelvis, and associated ligaments back to a normal physiological function. Clinical research shows that the baby will often turn on their own after the treatment is performed.
